HOUSTON COUNTY:    This past Thursday the Larry McKee Show, WDIG AM - 1450 was host to Kendell Glover, candidate for the Office of Houston County Coroner.

McKee provided free air time to the candidates to come into the radio station and introduce themselves and speak as to why the registered voters should elect them to the office which they are seeking.

The incumbent Coroner, Robert Byrd, has been the Houston County Coroner for 35 years. Glover spoke to why he feels it is time to change the Coroner in Houston County.

The Coroner responds to deaths which are not attended by a physician. In other words, a physician has been treating a patient who has something that was ultimately going to take their life.

The Coroner responds to deaths which are as a result of an act of another. Some of those being auto accidents, murders, suicide, accidental deaths.

Unlike Dale County, the county has no "official" office for Coroner. Dale County provides a professional office for Coroner, with a dignified place for families to come in and identify a body if needed which is clean and professional. In Houston County there is no such office for Coroner.

Kendall Glover has said, as Coroner he will seek for a Coroner Office where the Coroner records will be kept and a professional place to meet families. The Coroner's Office is not an extension of your private business but rather a public office to be kept seperate from your private business.

Kendall Glover said he has the necessary training to perform the duties of Coroner. Alabama law dictates a certain number of required hours of training per year for the Coroner and Kendall Glover says he will attend those training courses for the required continuing education as Coroner.

Kendall Glover promised timely response to calls when notified of a death. A family should not have to wait or emergency services wait an extended period of time for the Coroner to arrive on the scene.

Kendall Glover promises to service with dignity and respect towards the deceased and the family of the deceased.
