HOUSTON COUNTY:      1:08 PM    Houston County Sheriff 911 dispatched Hodgesville Volunteer Fire, Pilcher Ambulance, Houston County Sheriff Deputies and ALEA - Troopers to a motor vehicle accident with injuries. The accident location was Third Avenue and West Saunders Road.


The person(s) reporting to Houston County Sheriff 911 reported a vehicle overturned in the ditch. The call was dispatched as a serious critical motor vehicle accident.


Hodgesville Volunteer Fire Chief Jack Woods, who also works full time as a Captain with Dothan Fire Department, called for mutual aid assistance from Dothan Fire Engine 4, Southside.


The call by Chief Wood was a correct call. You always call what resources are needed based on the information given to the 911 staff by the person reporting. You respond those resources and cancel if not not needed.


On the arrival of the emergency units all patients had self extricated. One patient was complaining of injuries to her wrist. On the scene the patient was treated by Pilcher Ambulance but transported by private auto. There were no other injuries.


Within a few feet in either of the four directions from the intersection of Third Avenue and Sanders Road, you are in the City Limits of Dothan. Traveling north, south, east or west.


But the actual intersection is outside of the city limits of Dothan. That intersection falls into the jurisdiction of Hodgesville Volunteer Fire, Pilcher Ambulance, Houston County Sheriff Department and ALEA - Troopers. Drive 20 feet or so in either directions and you are back in the City Limits of Dothan/
