DOTHAN - HOUSTON COUNTY - ENTERPRISE - COFFEE COUNTY:    It was Monday, May 25 ( last Monday ) that America honored those who have served this Country in the Armed Forces for us to have freedoms.

Today, May 31, 2020, some of those who have fought for freedom in America are now law enforcement officers. Some are Municipal, County and State law enforcement officers.

Under the careful watchful eyes of Dothan Police Chief Steve Parrish, Dothan Police Command Staff and officers, Houston County Sheriff Donald Valenza, Houston County Sheriff Command Staff and deputies, Coffee County Sheriff Dave Sutton, Coffee County Sheriff Command Staff and Deputies, Enterprise Police Chief T.D. Jones, Enterprise Police Command Staff and officers, and ALEA Trooper Captain Tracy Nelson and ALEA Troopers, those freedoms that people have died for were allowed to take place.

Memorial Day is not a happy day for many people. Because it is a reminder their loved ones fought for America to have freedom. And one of those freedoms is the right to protest and speak up for something you feel is not right.

Not just the agencies I mentioned, but other agencies surrounding us, these law enforcement officers made sure those who wanted to stand in a "peaceful and lawful" protest were allowed to in a safe and secure place. In Dothan and Houston County, Chief Parrish and Sheriff Valenza personally were on hand. In Enterprise and Coffee County, Chief Jones and Sheriff Sutton personally were on hand.

And all went safe.

That is some of the freedoms that Memorial Day honored those who fought and died for us to have.

What they did not fight for and give their life for, is the protest violence like in Philedelphia. In Birmingham Alabama. In other areas of the country where they are burning businesses, law enforcement vehicles, looting and stealing. No one has fought for those freedoms.

Someone on authority needs to grow some backbone in those cities, and stop it. Even if it takes deadly physical force in order to stop it. The violence watched on FOX in some areas of the country, authorities can use deadly physical force if they fear their life or that of someone else is in danger. And these violent protestors have to be stopped and they have been allowed to go to far.

And the reason is there are not enough people in leadership with a strong backbone to stand up and say THAT IS ENOUGH, STOP.

I was raised under Houston County Sheriff A.B. Clark. What he taught me was, (1) as a law enforcement officer you in are in charge, (2) you start off nice and be nice, until the person you are dealing with will not let you be nice (3) then you develop the attitude that person causes you to develop, because remember, as a law enforcement officer you are in charge.

But then, you use only the force REASONABLY NECESSARY to effectuate a lawful arrest. Not more force than reasonably necessary, but only the force reasonably necessary.

Across this country the violent protesters must be stopped. And law enforcement must immediately begin to use the force reasonably necessary to stop it. And someone needs to grow a set hours ago and start that process.

HATS OFF to those who appeared in Dothan and Enterprise. Was not in the other areas is why I can not say what went on there.

But the organizer of this protest and her Marine friend were not going to allow anyone out of control. They protested in a lawful and peaceful manner.

And some of the law enforcement present today became friends because they understand the frustrations. They fought in the military for them to have those freedoms. As long as the protest was lawful and peaceful.

So I applaud all of the protesters and law enforcement here in the manner everything was handled.

In Birmingham, grow a set and stop it. In Philly, leaders grow a set and stop it. You took the leadership job, now be a leader.

The sad things is, Houston and Coffee County ( Dothan and Enterprise ) were examples of the right thing. But none of the major media will pick it up because it is the drama they want.
