Echo to New York - On Sunday, a local resident completed one of her biggest dreams by completing the United Airlines NYC Half Marathon. Echo resident Julia Brown, 37, owner of ProClean Dothan LLC, a residential and commercial cleaning business has dreamed of competing in this half marathon for a long time. Julia said she has been running for around 6 years now with the goal of running in this half marathon, and a goal of running a full marathon in November. She started training heavily during covid and has already completed 2 other full marathons, 13 half marathons and several 5k/10k. Julia said she really didn’t train for the event in New York this weekend. She has been battling an ankle and knee injury that her doctor didn’t want her running on. She competed with around 25 thousand other runners today and completed the run 30 minutes better than she anticipated.
Julia’s husband Thomas Brown is a 16-year veteran firefighter who is now a Captain with the Dothan Fire Department, and she has partnered with a charity group “Answer the Call”. They are a non-profit organization that helps widowed wives and children of firemen, police and other servicemen. Julia was not going to let knee and ankle pain stop her when others have given even more.
Julia plans to compete in the full marathon in November. It will be back in New York. She must raise $3,500 through the site below to be able to compete in the full marathon in November. I am asking anyone that can help donate to this wonderful fund please follow the link below. For questions please go direct on Facebook with Julia or Thomas.
