MAN AND WOMAN IN CUSTODY AFTER FLEEING FROM POLICE

Officers with the DeFuniak Springs Police Department arrested two people early Saturday morning after the vehicle the two were riding in was observed driving reckless on N. 1st Street. Officers conducted a traffic stop on the late model white Ford Ranger, but the driver attempted to elude Police.


As the pursuit continued, the driver later identified as 28 year old Allen Michael Walker of DeFuniak Springs, drove erratically for several minutes before striking a parked car on N. 11th Street. Walker then fled on foot and was apprehended by Officers almost immediately.


The female passenger, 32 year old Amanda Nicole Tyson also of DeFuniak Springs, was found to have an active arrest warrant for Failure to Appear out of Walton County. During an inventory of the vehicle, numerous items of drug paraphernalia and methamphetamine were located along with scales.


Both subjects were arrested and taken to the Walton County Jail. As of this release, Walker is being held on a $27,000 bond and Tyson was given “no bond” on her charges.


“What else can I say, we are arresting criminals,” said Chief James Hurley. “We are in partnership with our community, working 24/7 to rid our streets of drugs.”
