Man Arrested for Burglary with Battery Criminal Mischief

During the early morning hours of Saturday August 17, 2019, Officers of the Marianna Police Department responded to an address on Forest Street, to the report of a physical altercation, in progress. Upon arrival, officers were able to make contact with two parties fleeing from the residence. One of the parties advised that two subjects were inside the home fighting. Officers were able to detect the sounds of a struggle within residence. Officers then entered the residence and were able to make contact with the occupants, identified Shon Heatrice and the victim.
During the course of the investigation officers were able to determine, Shon Heatrice, had come to the home of the victim and forcibly made entry into the home. Once inside the residence, Heatrice armed himself with a weapon of opportunity, and physically attacked the victim using the weapon and his fists. During the course of the altercation, Heatrice did also cause damage to items within the residence. The victim did receive injuries as a result of the attack was evaluated and treated for at Jackson Hospital.
Heatrice was taken into custody, after a brief struggle with officers and was later transported to the Jackson County Correctional Facility to await first appearance. This case remains under investigation.
