Man Charged with Shooting into a Dwelling

PANAMA CITY:A local man is charged with discharging a firearm in public and shooting into an occupied dwelling in a drive-by shooting Thursday night.
Officers with the Panama City Police Department were called to the 1900 block of Cherry Street in reference to shots being fired. On the way to the scene, patrol officers located a vehicle in the immediate area matching the description of the suspect vehicle and initiated a traffic stop.
In the vehicle, officers found loose ammunition and a handgun magazine matching the description of two shell casings found at the shooting scene.
During the course of their investigation, detectives with the department learned that Joseph Ernest Herbert III, O/M, 32 had discharged a firearm out of the back of a vehicle he was riding in toward the occupied residence.
Herbert III was charged with discharging a firearm in public, shooting into an occupied dwelling, unlicensed carry of a concealed weapon, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm in commission of a felony, possession of drug paraphernalia and violation of his conditional release on other charges, including aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and domestic battery. He was booked into the Bay County Jail.
