Man My Shotgun Missing - Do you Have Your 40

DOTHAN:    03:17 AM.    Earlier there was a fight call dispatched by Dothan 911 to Cowboy’s on Highway 231 South at Saunders Road.


The call was then changed to an assault, person thought to have a broken nose.


I was out because working news and my business so I rolled to Cowboy’s. Dothan Fire Engine 2 ( Lakewood ) and Pilcher Ambulance responded.


No one was transported. For a few minutes I turned my lights off, let my window down and was sitting and listening as people were in the parking lot walking to their vehicles and talking.


Overheard one guy yell to his friend his shotgun was missing. As far as I could tell they remembered taking it out and then asked about his 40.


The 40 is a handgun.


I could tell neither were hunters. It is my opinion they are part of the issues faced by law enforcement of the firearm fights that are occurring such as at Teaser’s this morning.


Not attempting to stereotype the subjects. They might not be at all. But from overhearing their conversations and some comments about the police in the parking lot by some close to where they were standing, the guns were in the hands of what I would consider dangerous people.


Again, I did not meet the people and just overhearing their talking.


Again I point out, what was somewhere else is now something that is faced by law enforcement in the Wiregrass area on a daily basis.


A main point I wish to make. People run their mouths about law enforcement officers precautions as they approach vehicles they stop or people they encounter. Tonight just watching and listening is an example that you never know what the person law enforcement encounter has in their possession.


These guys might be ok, never cause issues, and only have them for protection. In no way am I accusing them of anything. But it was an example of you never know what someone has in their possession.
