Marianna Ploice Charges One with Child Abuse, Battery of a Person 65 or Older

On 07/05/2020, officers with Marianna Police Department responded to a residence located in the 4200 block of Woodberry Road. Upon officer’s arrival, contact was made with the victim who stated that De’Marius Leslie entered the home and threatened the victim with a firearm.
The victim advised Leslie was no longer present at the residence. It was also learned that Leslie pushed down an elderly individual and waved the firearm around in a room where children were present.
During the investigation, Leslie was located traveling in a vehicle on Jefferson Street. The vehicle was stopped and officers were able to make contact with Leslie.
Upon making contact with Leslie, officers took him into custody without incident. Leslie was arrested and charged with aggravated assault, child abuse, domestic battery and battery of a person 65 or older.
