Marianna Woman Arrested Following Vehicle Pursuit

MARIANNA FLA:On Thursday, April 11, 2024 at approximately 6:30 PM officers with the Marianna Police Department responded to the 4200 block of Old Cottondale Road, in reference to a hit and run. The complainant provided the tag and photographs of the vehicle.


Officers located this vehicle in the area of Hall Street and Sunset Drive. This vehicle immediately fled the area at a high rate of speed upon sight of law enforcement. The vehicle lost its front bumper in the middle of Hall Street and fled east on Lafayette Street. Officers soon after located this vehicle traveling south on Penn Avenue at a high rate of speed and attempted a traffic stop.


The vehicle failed to yield for this officer and began to flee from the officer with lights and sirens activated. The vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed through residential areas. The officer began to terminate the pursuit due to safety concerns for all parties involved. As the officer slowed on Clay Street the suspect vehicle continued to accelerate and failed to negotiate the turn on Borden Street, colliding with a utility pole and large tree.


The driver of the vehicle was determined to be the registered owner, Alexis Miller. Miller also had her three-year-old daughter in the backseat, unrestrained. Miller and the child were unharmed in the collision.


Miller was transported to the Jackson County Correctional Facility to await first appearance.
