We extend a heartfelt invitation to all who were touched by Lamar’s kindness and warmth to join us at 2pm on May 5th at Cottonwood First Baptist Church to celebrate the beautiful life of our dear Lamar.
Ralph Lamar Snell, born on January 20th, 1935, gracefully embraced the arms of the Lord on March 28th, following a brief illness.
Known fondly as Lamar, he was a cherished fixture in Cottonwood, Alabama, graduating proudly from the class of 1953. Lamar’s journey took him from the Air Force, where he served alongside his dearest companions, Bobby Kirkland, Wayne Kirkland and Wayne Exum, to a fulfilling career as an Alabama State Trooper, where he brightened countless lives in the License Division, guiding individuals on the road to obtaining their driver’s licenses. Upon retiring, Lamar poured his heart into his passions: crafting masterpieces in his workshop, nurturing his garden, and concocting his legendary pepper sauce in the kitchen.
Lamar leaves behind cherished memories, preceded in death by his loving parents, Ray and Thelma Snell, and his dear sister, Mildred. He is survived by his devoted life partner, Francine Skipper, grandson, Landon Exum, stepsons, Johnathan Exum (Mondae) and Eric Exum (Dawn), step-granddaughter, Hillary Cook (Dylan), step-granddaughters Scarlett Exum and her mother Rachel, beloved granddaughter, Taylor, who had just entered the world and whom he held close and adored during her brief time with him, and great-granddaughters, Regan and Brantley. He is also warmly remembered by his cousins, Mr. Wayne Kirkland, Ms. Betty Cobb and Mrs. Joanne Womack.
