Monday - January 17 - Is A HOLIDAY - Sanitation Schedule Change

DOTHAN - HOUSTON COUNTY:    This coming Monday, January 17, 2022, is a government holiday.

It is Martin Luther King / Robert E. Lee birthday.

The City of Dothan Sanitation will not pickup on Monday. The green and blue cart will picked up on Wednesday.

At this time the sanitation schedules for Houston County should run as normal, to my knowledge.

According to the Houston County Commission, yet never proven to the public, Houston County working four days per week saves Houston County money.

Due to Monday being a holiday, all county buildings will be closed on Monday. The Houston County Offices will only work Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday of next week.

The Houston County Courthouse and the City of Dothan will be open.

THE HOUSTON COUNTY COMMISSION only controls 2 people who work in the Houston County Courthouse. Those are the custodians.

They have no control over anyone else in the Courthouse.

All offices in the courthouse are under the control of the Houston County Circuit Clerk Carla Woodall, the 20th Judicial Circuit Court District Attorney Pat Jones, Houston County District Court Judges Benjamin Lewis and Lori Ingram, and 20th Judicial Circuit Court Judges Todd Derrrick, Kevin Moulton, Butch Binford, Larry Anderson and John John Steensland.

While the above paragraph named persons are elected either by only the registered voters of Houston County and some by the registered voters of Houston County and Henry County, they are state employees. None are paid by or answerable to any Houston County Commission Chairman or Houston County Commissioner.

A county commissioner does have the authority to assign offices within the courthouse. So I guess, if a Judge makes them mad they could assign his office as one of the restrooms. But, if the Judge gets a case involving the commissioner, I guess the Judge could assign the County Commissioner to the County Jail. LOL!!!
