Most Alabama schools to reopen, but doors stay closed for nearly a third of kids

ALABAMA: Students will return to classrooms in some areas of Alabama next week, while the list grows daily of school districts declaring they’ll keep the doors closed.


AL.com has been tracking district announcements and as of today, 27 school districts will open with virtual-only classes. That includes some of the state’s largest systems.


That means more than 210,000 students, or 29% of all K-12 students in Alabama, are enrolled in a system that will not offer in-person learning to start the fall semester.
