JACKSON COUNTY :On Saturday, April 22, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., our office is partnering with the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) to participate in a national “take back” initiative. This national take-back will allow the public to surrender expired, unwanted or unused pharmaceutical controlled substances and other medications to law enforcement for destruction.

During the event, controlled, non-controlled and over the counter substances can be surrendered in the form of tablets, capsules or small bottles of cough syrup. Needles (IV Solutions, injectables and syringes) WILL NOT be accepted due to potential hazard posed by blood-borne pathogens.

This program is anonymous. No questions or requests for ID will be made at the collection sites. The public is not required to remove the Rx labels from their surrendered prescriptions, but can if they choose to do so.

Jackson County collection sites will be at the Sneads Police Department, Graceville Police Department, Alford Fire Rescue and the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office.

Please join us in removing potentially dangerous controlled substances from our medicine cabinets and bringing awareness to the issue of pharmaceutical drug use.
