DOTHAN:    Last night Dothan Police Officer who had a lull in running from call to call to call was able to observe, chase and apprehend suspects in drive by shooting. The subjects were taken into case. 

As a result of the (1) lull in calls (2) being observant (3) and on patrol a Dothan Police Patrol unit was able to be in a position on a drive by shooting to identify the vehicle, gave a brief vehicle chase, and apprehend the suspects.

As a result of the proactiveness, because of the investigators with Dothan Police Department,  through these arrests Dothan Police solved the drive by shooting two weekends ago where a 12 year old was shot and injured.

This past Sunday on Grant Street several people were shot, to include a 3 year old child. Dothan Police Chief Will Benny personally responded to the scene. And to say he was pissed is saying it midly. 

Dothan Police Chief Will Benny has said that Dothan Alabama will not go to hell under this watch. While he has been proactive in ways to stop these shootings, the last two weekends, THIS WILL STOP! Chief Benny has a plan and the arrests last night and today demonstrates his plan is underway.

But you ain't seen nothing yet!

Dothan Police Chief Will Benny and Houston County Sheriff Donald Valenza are teaming up. Both departments need more manpower to be proactive. So they are uniting together in ways to stop these issues.

Both men are law enforcement officers through and through. They are not politicians. They believe in service and above self.

Dothan Police Chief Will Benny has said he expects his officers to be respectful, legal and right. Mistakes will be made, but be respectful.

MY WORDS - but you can only be as respectful as the person you are dealing with will let you. Sometimes people will not allow you to be respectful because you have to be firm to stop the smack.

But Chief Benny has instructed his officers, as Sheriff Valenza has instructed his deputies, we have had more than enough of this criminal activity.

These arrest by Dothan Police Department represents the committment of Chief Will Benny and the men and women of the Dothan Police Departement in this war on crime. But it also takes the community to partner with the Police Department.

Law Enforcement Officers are not your enemies. They are here to place their lives on the line each day in order to save the lives of others. In order to keep our community safe, we as citizens have to partner with them. We have to be willing to let them know information. No matter how small you think that information is, that might be the piece that solves the crime.
