A suspect in a Walton County armed robbery who repeatedly shot at deputies and
troopers chasing him across Interstate 10 was captured in Okaloosa County when his
getaway car was disabled by spike strips west of Crestview. Multiple law enforcement
agency vehicles were struck by rounds.
33-year old Dallas Francis of 958 Graysen Lane in Defuniak Springs was shot twice
after exchanging gunfire with law enforcement officials, to include OCSO deputies, as he
got out of the passenger side of the vehicle near mile marker 53. He was taken to a local
hospital for treatment prior to being booked into the Okaloosa County Jail. (A mug shot
is not yet available).
The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office has charged the car’s driver, 30-year old Mary
Yard of the same Defuniak Springs address, with aggravated assault on a law
enforcement officer and fleeing and eluding. Deputies say the pair was throwing cash
out the window as they fled.
Francis is charged with aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, fleeing and
eluding, and possession of a weapon by a convicted felon.
He’s a suspect in the armed robbery of a Walton County convenience store Friday
morning and has prior felony charges in Ohio ranging from aggravated robbery to
carrying a concealed weapon.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is processing the evidence.
Additional charges are pending.
