PANSEY: 8:20 PM The eastside of Houston County had an active morning.
On Ed Tolar Road and Dillard Road there was a vehicle fire at 7:58 AM this morning. Ashford Fire caught that call. A gray Nissan with flames from the front of the vehicle.
Later in the morning Gordon Fire at 11:19 AM Pansey Volunteer Fire assisted Gordon Volunteer Fire at an outdoor fire on Highway 84 and the Georgia State line.
Pansey Assistant Fire Chief Larry Givens, age 71, a former Marine responded. Recently Larry had knee surgery. In less than 10 days Larry came in the Waffle House without his walker with his son Brandon. He was riding his trike motorcycle. Cleared by the doctor one morning and on the fire truck that afternoon.
At 12:44 PM Pansey Volunteer Fire, again 71 year old Larry Givens, along with Pansey Fire Chief Brandon Givens, Fireman Skyler Deese and others responded to South County Road 75 and Dock Lamb Road to a cotton picker on fire in the back of the field.
A busy morning for the east side.
Ashford Rescue has been slammed all day.
PICTURE 4: Larry and his bride Rose Mary Givens as they leave the Waffle House. Rose Mary is very quiet, timid and shy and you hardly know she is around, NOTTTTT!!!! But she also responds to fires along with her husband Larry and son Brandon.
PICTURE 5:
Larry last week on outdoor fire on North County 81 that was rapidly growing out of control and endangering homes. The same morning or one or two before the doctor had just released Larry to return to normal activities after only 10 days from a knee surgery. Hard to keep an 'ol Marine down!
