On 5-20-19 at approximately 11:39 p.m. The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office responded to a reported physical altercation in progress on 6th Ave. in Alford.
When the first Deputy arrived, the suspect, Brian Keith Harris Jr., ran into the residence and refused to come out.
In speaking with Harris’ father, Deputies learned that he had been the victim of domestic battery at the hands of the younger Harris and required minor medical attention.
Deputies and family members attempted to reason with Harris for almost two hours to no avail. At one point he armed himself with a loaded 12 gauge shotgun and racked a round into the chamber.
He did not directly threaten anyone outside, but stated that he would kill himself if anyone attempted to take him into custody. He busted windows out of the house and caused serious damage to the kitchen.
At approximately 1:30 a.m. Harris surrendered to authorities without further incident. He was treated for minor cuts to his hands and lodged in the Jackson County Correctional Facility charged with Felon in Possession of a Firearm and Domestic Violence Battery.
