A Pike County woman was charged with chemical endangerment after being arrested by the Pike County Sheriff’s Office.

Chelsey Leann Redmon-Zellers, age 24, was charged with chemical endangerment of a child resulting in death; this is a class A felony offense under Alabama law.

According to WSFA.com, Redmon-Zellers gave birth to a stillborn baby boy on May 18.

During her pregnancy and after her son was born, she tested positive for numerous illegal substances; the baby had high levels of methamphetamine, amphetamines, and fentanyl in his system causing his death.

Redmon-Zellers refused to turn herself in and tried to run away from officers when being arrested this past Tuesday. It took a short foot pursuit to catch her.

She is in the Pike County Jail with $200,000 bail.
