POLICE INVESTIGATE UNATTENDED DEATH

DeFuniak Springs Police were called to Adams Motel around 8:45 a.m. Wednesday morning in reference to suspicious circumstances.  Officers arrived and made contact with the owner of the motel who said he had not seen one of his tenants in several days.


 Investigation revealed a foul odor and the presence of flies around the doorway of the room.  Entry was gained and the remains of a 76 year old man was found on the floor.  Detectives were called in along with the State Attorney’s Office and Medical Examiner’s Office.  


Video surveillance and other evidence was collected with the assistance of the Walton County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Unit.  The case is pending the Medical Examiner’s findings, but no foul play is suspected.
