Ponce De Leon Deputies Make Several Drug Arrests

PONCE DE LEON - On May 26, 2021, a deputy stopped a green Nissan truck being driven by Vera Martin, from PDL on Hwy 90 in Ponce de Leon. K9 Highway conducted a free air sniff of the vehicle and alerted to the presence of narcotics.  A search of the vehicle revealed some marijuana and drug paraphernalia.  Once at the jail Martin was found to have a bag of methamphetamine hidden on her person.  Martin was charged with Possession of meth, introduction of contraband, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.


PONCE DE LEON - On May 28, 2021. Deputies responded to an altercation involving the occupants inside a gold Toyota car.  The deputy was able to locate the car at the Big Boss Store in Ponce de Leon.  The occupants were identified as Christine Thornton from Illinois and Christopher Brengel from Wisconsin.  When Brengel opened his door, the deputy observed a meth pipe in plain view. A search of the vehicle was conducted and located inside was marijuana, methamphetamine, and prescription medication. Brengel faces charges of possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and giving false information (due to initially giving a false name).  Thornton faces charges of possession of marijuana, possession of meth, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of alprazolam.



PONCE DE LEON – On June 6, 2021 deputies with Holmes and Walton County Sheriff’s Office got out with a vehicle at the Big Boss Store in Ponce de Leon.  The driver Daniel McHenry had active warrants out of Walton County.  K9 Highway was utilized and alerted to the presence of narcotics in the vehicle.  A search of the vehicle was conducted and located was a plastic baggie containing methamphetamine lying in the passenger seat where Katie Truett was sitting.  McHenry was arrested for the outstanding warrants and Truett was arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine.
