On Tuesday, September 15, 2020, at approximately 1:17 AM, a Deputy with the Uniform Patrol Division was conducting proactive patrols in the area of Highway 231 and Obert Road. The Deputy observed a red pickup truck with faulty equipment and initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle, driven by Christopher Arant. Once the traffic stop was completed, Arant consented to a search of his vehicle. The search of the vehicle revealed syringes, a spoon with a purple substance on it, and a quantity of purple pills suspected to be morphine . Post-Miranda Arant advised the pills were morphine and that he used the items found to inject the morphine into his body. The pills were not in a prescription bottle and Arant confirmed he did not have a prescription for the controlled substance. Arant was placed under arrest for possession of heroin and possession of narcotic equipment and transported to Jackson County Correctional Facility to await first appearance.
