On September 25, 2020, at approximately 8:30 in the evening, an officer with the Bonifay Police Department attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a 2014 Hyundai for a traffic infraction. The driver of the Hyundai accelerated and began driving in an aggressive manner in an attempt to flee from law enforcement. The pursuit began on US Highway 90 near the city limits and ended near Memorial Field after the suspect came to a complete stop on McGee Road. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Prince Qwalter Leondre Douglas, black male, 30 years-of-age, from Vernon, Florida. Douglas was placed under arrest for flee and/or attempt to elude a law enforcement officer, two counts of tampering with evidence, sale/manufacture/delivery of a controlled substance (methamphetamine >14grams), sale/manufacture/delivery of a controlled substance (cocaine >12 grams), possession of marijuana (<20 grams) and possession of drug paraphernalia. The tampering charges stem from Douglas throwing some of the recovered drugs and paraphernalia out of the driver side window during the pursuit. Douglas was transported to the Holmes County Jail to await first appearance.

According to the Florida Department of Corrections public website: Douglas had been released on February 4, 2019 after having served a 2 year and 9 month sentence for two counts of sale/manufacture/deliver methamphetamine occurring in 2016. In addition, Douglas had previously served a concurrent sentence of a year and a day beginning in 2013 for two counts of sale/manufacture/deliver of marijuana that occurred in 2011 and possession of a controlled substance and willful flee/elude law enforcement that occurred in 2012.
