HOUSTON COUNTY:    On or about August 10, 2017 Houston County Sheriff Criminal Investigator Cpl. Jason Grantham brought Raven Nathaniel Smith into the Houston County Sheriff Department for questioning and interrogation.

Following those interviews and investigation which had already  occurred with more to complete, Cpl. Grantham arrested Smith and placed him in the Houston County Jail.

The investigation resulted in Raven Nathaniel Smith being arrested on charges of Rape 1st degree ( forcible compulson ), Rape 2nd ( age ), Sodomy 2nd, Sexual Abuse 2nd.

All in all 19 cases of a mixture of Rape by force, Sodomy, Rape by age, and Sexual Abuse.

Once arrested on August 10, 2017, it does not appear that Smith was ever released from the Houston County Jail on bond. He has remained in the jail since arrest.

The offenses are alleged to have occurred between January 2011 through August 8, 2017.

The court case action summaries reflect that Raven Nathaniel Smith entered a guilty plea on May 22, 2019 in the 19 cases against him.

Today Raven Nathaniel Smith stood before the Honorable Todd Derrick, 20th Judicial Circuit Court Judge for sentencing. The first form you will be able to view is one that would have been completed on all cases. That form is EXPLANATION OF RIGHTS AND PLEA OF GUILTY FORM which Smith would have been required to sign on each case.

The next group of documents are the SENTENCING ORDERS where Judge Derrick handed down the sentence to Raven Nathaniel Smith in each case.

NOTE:   This is offenses apparently the defendant Raven Nathaniel Smith committed and entered a guilty plea on. He comes from a good family and these actions and sentences are in no way a bad reflection on his family.

20th Judicial Circuit Court Judge Todd Derrick handed down the following sentences:

The sentences were: 20 years + 1 year + 1 year + 1 year + 1 year + 1 year + 1 year + 1 year + 1 year + 1 year + 1 year + 1 year + 1 year + 1 year + 99 year + 99 years + 99 years + 99 years + 99 years. None of the 99 year sentences are concurrent ( run together ) with the other sentences.

Which means the 99 year sentence has to be served before begins the next 99 year sentence. The defendant is calculated some good time by the Alabama Department of Corrections but Raven Nathaniel Smith will not see the outside of the Alabama Department of Corrections as a free man, ever, unless he escapes.

Smith's attorney gave oral notice of appeal today. However the chances of success when he entered a guilty plea are slim to none.
