Response To A FACEBOOK Post By Suspect's Mother

REHOBETH:     6:29 PM   Normally I do not respond to the comments made about me or a news report that I have made.


And I am not being critical of this person or even mad with them over their comments. But want to offer an explanation.


RSN articles are normally a order in which the call came out to responding units from the 911 Dispatcher, which is what persons reporting tell the 911 dispatcher.


This past Friday a tragedy took place in Rehobeth. A man's life was taken and a family devestated, and a young man was charged with the death and his family devestated.


The original RSN article stated the suspect is alleged to have struck the victim with a baseball bat and then run over. The suspect fled the scene and some hours later was taken into custody.


Someone sent me a FACEBOOK post ( I was blocked ) which the dear mother of the suspect is reported to have written. The comments were " Rickey Stokes you are a liar. I have always heard you were not a news reporter but a blogger. My son didn't have a bat. The victim did."


The mother makes other comments to include "were you there?", "Did you see what happened", or "did you just assume".


The articles are normally written as the call develops. And initially the information dispatched to responding EMS and law enforcement was the victim was struck with a baseball bat and then run over.


Often times the initial information dispatched does change. To date there has not been a press conference held by Houston County Sheriff Donald Valenza with details of the event that took place.


The court hearings have not been held at this time which detail the events that took place. So RSN reported what the call was initially.


I understand the mother's frustrations, emotions and tragic circumstances she and her family is undergoing, same as the victim's families. But at the time the article was written the details were as they were developing. 


All of the families, on both sides, are in my prayers.
