HOUSTON COUNTY:    This article contains Episode Number 7 of RICKEY STOKES - I AM CALLING YOU OUT PODCAST.

The podcast was cut last week but held. I had reservations about it only because I mentioned my former pastor and church in it. And I love the pastor and church very much. But it is part of the entire picture and Rickey Stokes did not bring them into it.

This podcast came as a result of a incident last week. The Houston County Sheriff 911 Center spent one hour paging multiple agencies to assist EMS with a lift assist. Finally after one hour about 5 people responded and that is explained in the podcast.

When the hiring commission employed Chris Judah as Dothan-Houston County Emergency Management Director they have gave him some specific missions. One of those missions was to work with the Houston County Fire and EMS, and work on the relationship with Dothan Fire.

Director Judah has done that. When the fire and EMS were dispatched to significant calls in the county members of Dothan-Houston County Emergency Management responded.

Ricky Herring was serving as a Houston County Deputy Sheriff. This is an at will employee of the Sheriff. The Sheriff can fire for any reason. Deputy Herring ran for and was elected Houston County Commissioner. When he came on board he immediately began to dismantle all that had been worked for and accomplished in the working relationship between Emergency Management and the responders.

Herring said Emergency Management is a "resource" and not a "responder". Even though Judah and staff responded and grabbed fire hoses and helped fight fires all across this county, all times of the day and night.

For 32 or 34 years Ricky Herring and Rickey Stokes attended church together. Stokes stood by Herring through several hardships in his life and fought for him. But when he took office as Commissioner he became someone who knew everything to know so little.

Herring said Emergency Management running lights and siren were a liability, yet 11 Houston County Sheriff Deputies in a chase on Friday afternoon on Ross Clark Circle was apparently safe and not a liability. Because Herring was number 4 in the chase.

I had fought and tried to correct a major issue. Houston County Sheriff 911 would dispatch Pilcher Ambulance to drive through Ashford to Lucy to a patient not breathing when Ashford EMS had three advanced life support ambulances. Unable to change it, one day when something happened I got a hold of the Sheriff Communications Supervisor.

I admit, my language was bad. It was bad. But as a result that got changed. Because when you are not breathing, a 34 minute response time for Pilchers verses 22 minutes from Ashford, which is in the best interest of that patient. By the way the patient is dead now.

Pilcher's is a great ambulance service. But that is not what 911 is about. It is about dispatching immediate assistance.

Ricky Herring called out Pastor who called me. He has called me a number of times when people have complained about articles I have written. But it was felt my language was a reflection of what was in my heart. It was a reflection of the fact I felt the nearest EMS or emergency unit needs to roll. That is the obligation of 911.

After 32 or 34 years, not one time has Ricky Herring ever said he missed me at church. And I have not attended the church of over 32 or 34 years since around Thanksgiving.

My position is Herring has not missed me because he does not want anyone to stand up to him.

Therefore I changed churches and it is 100% because of Ricky Herring. I mean, if the Sheriff Department changed the dispatch it must have been the right thing to do. So why did I have to get sideways for it to happen.

The day of over an hour of trying to get lift assistance I asked dispatch to contact Herring and tell him to get out of bed and respond. I mean he is paid $ 33,000.00 as a Houston County Commissioner, $ 250.00 a month to furnish his own vehicle as a Commissioner but drives his Sheriff Department Z-71 Chevrolet everywhere. By the way, in less than one year as a Commissioner he got two new county vehicles.

Then Herring draws probably $ 40,000.00 as a Deputy Sheriff.

Well, according to a source who knew Sheriff 911 was told to call Herring, he is reported to have replied " they knew better then to call me".

I have no patience on emergency services. It does not pick the victim or location and can happen immediately.

NOTE:   There is nothing in this podcast meant to cause ill will or speak bad about the pastor or church. But it was 100% Ricky Herring who brought them into it.

And he has Commissioner Brandon Shoupe following him like a puppy dog. Shoupe wants to be Houston County Commission Chairman. And folks that would be dangerous if he was ever elected Chairman.

Herring ultimately would like to be Sheriff. A major - major mistake.
