OZARK - DALE COUNTY:     Today the Dale County Commission and Dale County Commission Chairman met in their regular session and administrative meeting.

The Chairman and Commissioners were greeted with 5 Mayors and the EMS Coordinator for Midland City.

The 5 Mayors have been meeting forming a group to join together for the money the         $ 5.00 tag fee is generating earmarked for EMS. The five Mayors are Newton, Pinckard, Midland City, Napier Field and Grimes.

The leader of the group of Mayors has been Pinckard Mayor Bobby Borland. The Yaor spoke to the Dale County Commission as did Jeff Atkins, EMS Coordinator of Midland City.

In July the attorney for most of the municipalities, Joe Adams, reserved the name South Dale EMS. According to Pinckard Mayor Bobby Borland Midland City Rescue will be done away with. They hope to purchase another ambulance and a facility to house the equipment and EMS personnel to live.

The 5 Mayors do not have a definite plan or know what each community will have to pay to subsidize the EMS. But the Mayors want the money and ability to start their own ambulance service.

The Dale County Commission gave the 5 Mayors 30 days to get South Dale EMS up and running or their will be working with ECHO EMS to cover the south end of Dale County.

Over the past 10 years ECHO EMS has handled EMS runs in the South Dale County area. ECHO EMS has had day time crews but volunteers for night time EMS calls. With the passage of the $ 5.00 fee, ECHO EMS has already started 24/7 coverage.

So the 5 Mayors could join hands with ECHO for the EMS coverage and have it immediately. Their South Dale EMS they will have to purchase everything to begin. And will not be ready in 30 days because they have no definitive plans.

MIDLAND CITY EMS COORDINATOR JEFF ATKINS WAS GIVEN WRONG INFORMATION

Last evening on WDHN ( Dothan First ), Midland City EMS Coordinator said Midland City had no ambulance on the scene of the 15 year student last week at South Dale High School. Atkins said that Midland City Police was never called for a ambulance and Ozark - Dale County 911 on their own dispatched Ozark Fire - EMS.

WRONG!!!!

Atkins quickly found out that Midland City had given him the wrong information. The original call came in at 7:14 AM to Ozark - Dale County 911. That call was transferred to Midland City Police from Ozark - Dale County 911 which remained on the phone. The original call was "difficulty breathing". Midland City told Ozark-Dale County 911 they had the call and would handle it.

At 7:16 AM the Coach called and reported the student was not breathing. Again Ozark-Dale County Central transferred the call to Midland City Police and remained on the phone. Midland City said they were unable to get a crew to make the EMS run, and also requested Dale County Sheriff Department because their policeman was on a call.

Atkins said a first responder heard the call and went to the scene on his personal vehicle. Atkins had to admit that he was told the wrong information.

MIDLAND CITY MUNICIPAL TOWN COUNCIL TAKE THIS AS A WARNING...

The service in the 15 year old child is UNACCEPTABLE service. It is time to place your dispatch services with Ozark - Dale County 911 or a big Plaintiff Law Firm file lawsuits against the Mayor and members of the Midland City Town Council in your professional and personal capacity. You are not doing what you were elected to do and lives are at stake.

Get on board or face a potential civil action.

THE RSN BULL CRAP CARD THROWN

The EMS coverage, sorry, bull I call you hand on it Jeff Adkins. You state that Midland City has had 29 EMS calls in the 13 days of August 2019. A verification of the 911 calls is Midland City has had 6 and made 2.

You stated that a lot of people call directly to Midland City Police and not to 911.

Again, Jeff I throw the BULL CRAP card. I say PROVE IT! And let the lack thereof be proof enough the figures you spoke of today are not accurate.

ECHO RESCUE IS THE WAY TO GO

For some 22 plus years ECHO has been operating a rescue. They have EMS units and ready to begin now. Midland City needs to work out an arrangement with both Midland City and Dale County Commission and the Midland City Ambulance part of the agreement.

Tonight Pinckard Town Council gave another delay in wanting the Mayors and Town Council members to get together and discuss this issue.

The Dale County Commission has the authority under Alabama Law to establish the rules, regulations and management thereof for EMS.

The time that is continued to be wasted could be you or your families lives. There has been 10 years for something to be worked out.

Now is the time everyone grow a set and do what the citizens expect. EMS Service.
