SBI Investigates Officer-Involved Shooting in Dothan

HOUSTON COUNTY – Special Agents with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) are investigating an officer-involved shooting at the request of Dothan Police Chief William Benny.
The incident occurred at approximately 7:10 a.m. Wednesday, June 16, in the 2730 block of Ross Clark Circle in Dothan and involved officers with the Dothan Police Department. The suspect, identified as Jeffery Michael Stewart, 42, of Jakin, Ga., was injured and taken to a local medical center for treatment; however, no officers were injured during the incident.
Once the investigation is complete, the findings will be turned over to the Houston County District Attorney’s Office. Nothing further is available as the investigation is ongoing.
