LEE COUNTY AL:   The following article was written by Josh Moon of the Alabama Political Reporter.

The article concerns the case, State of Alabama verses Mike Hubbard, former Alabama Speaker of the House for the Alabama Legislature.

The former speaker is an inmate in the Alabama Department of Corrections who filed motions for an early release. The Alabama Attorney General's Office filed motions in opposition with claims of recordings from the jail phones of person(s) the former Speaker of the House spoke to. The claims were the former Speaker and others in the Alabama Legislature were trying to pass legislation to free Hubbard.

Then there was a "secret" court hearing that Judge Walker, the sitting Judge in the Hubbard case, came in and held while sick. There were no notices given or court filings which gave hint to the secret court hearing.

And all of a sudden Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall's staff and the Hubbard attorneys "agreed" on redacted transcripts of the conversations recording from the jail phones.

BEFORE YOU READ THE ARTICLE, here is the RSN take on the secret court hearing and "agreements" on redacting the conversations:

1. Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall, a Republican, has to seek re-election in 2022.

2. The time for Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall to qualify for re-election begins in January 2022, just a few months away.

3. The conversations recorded on the jail phones contains calls with or about some powerful people in Alabama Politics, of which, Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall is careful about making mad.

4. The "right" person could whip Steve Marshall. Remember that Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall refused to release his schedule from January when the United States Capital was ransacked. And there is a lot of specualtion about Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall's role.

So, that is the RSN theory of why all of sudden Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall's Office agreed to a secret court hearing and agreed with the attorney's representing former Alabama Speaker of the House.
