A Shalimar man who ran from deputies during a welfare check attempt was taken into custody a few hours later and charged with pawning stolen items at a local pawn shop. T

he victim says 36-year old Chase Shipp of Country Club Road had stolen several pieces of jewelry from her home at 91 Country Club Road on February 8th to pawn for cash. Shipp told deputies he did it “all for heroin”.

Deputies were responding to the home around 4:30 Tuesday afternoon for a welfare check on Shipp when he ran into nearby woods, sparking a neighborhood search with K9s.

Shipp was initially not located, but deputies ultimately found him several hours near the home and took him into custody on the felony probable cause case.
