Leonia – On April 8, 2021, a deputy stopped a motorized bike on CR 181 in the Leonia Community. The deputy contacted the driver who was identified as David Schley from DeFuniak Springs.
While the deputy was checking Schley’s information, he fled the stop on the bike and headed north where a short pursuit ensued. Schley traveled about a quarter of a mile and then hit the woods and fled on foot.
The deputy was able to quickly apprehend Schley and he was detained. A search of his person revealed a plastic bag containing methamphetamine.
Schley faces charges of fleeing and attempting to elude, resisting an officer without violence and possession of methamphetamine. Schley also had active warrants out of Walton County
