SLOCOMB - On 04/08/2024 at approximately 4:06 p.m. Slocomb Fire-Rescue was dispatched to a structure fire at 1403 South State Highway 103 located south of Slocomb. The 911 caller reported a grease fire on the stove. All the occupants of the home were able to evacuate prior to arrival. Slocomb Engine 3 arrived on scene within 5 minutes and reported a single story residential structure with heavy smoke showing with a fire hydrant in the yard. Engine 3 established incident command and conducted an offensive interior attack. The fire was quickly knocked down and brought under control. Fadette, Hartford, and Malvern Fire also responded with man power. Slocomb Police and Geneva County EMA responded and assisted. The structure was saved but most of the contents of the home were not salvageable due to smoke and water damage.
