The month of May is Small Business Month, and RSN is spotlighting those who deserve recognition during this special time.

One local small business that deserves recognition is The Skin Studio located at 30 South Main Street on the square in Downtown Headland.

Owner, Emily Smith, has been an esthetician since 2019; she opened the day spa in 2022.

Smith says a few positives she brings to her community are peace, relaxation, and a boost of self-confidence; she said there is no better feeling than being relaxed, refreshed, and feeling good in your own skin.

When asked what advice she would give to someone thinking about starting their own business, Smith said one aspect to get a business up and running is word of mouth and in today’s time, social media marketing is beneficial.

She said it is also important to have patience in the Lord’s timing because there will be times when business will be slow; business owners must stay positive and view it as the Lord letting them rest before business picks up again.

One thing Smith always does for her clients is go the extra mile to make sure she exceeds their expectations, and she believes that it is important to be kind and attentive to all clients.

“My clients choose me and trust me with their goals and concerns for their skin. They are my top priority from the moment they schedule an appointment,” Smith said.

Smith’s passion since becoming an esthetician and seeing a variety of skin types is to allow people to have a positive self-image no matter what.

She said, “Being able to open my doors and welcome existing and new clients that have trust in what I can do for them is one of my greatest blessings. I truly praise God every single day!”

The Skin Studio offers a variety of services such as facials, chemical peels, waxing, treatments (hand, lip, scalp, neck, and eye), and eyebrow and lash tinting and waxing.

Smith said her most popular service at her spa would be the dermaplaning facial and lash lift and tint.

She even offers her services to children often by giving mini facials.
