The month of May is Small Business Month, and RSN is spotlighting those who deserve recognition during this special time.

One local small business that deserves recognition is Elite Auto located in Abbeville on Highway 431.

Owner, Mike Kozerski, opened his full-service mechanic business in 2018, nearly five years ago.

His mobile car repair business strives to bring a memorable experience to those experiencing a bad situation with their automobile. They offer to do more than just general service repairs; they customize, modify, personalize, and maintain vehicles.

Before he opened, he began taking the steps necessary to become licensed and certified to legally operate a mobile business. He invested portions of his paycheck weekly for several years in order to purchase the best battery-powered tools, equipment, and lighting that money could buy.

“Owning a business was a vision and a dream I had for as long as I can remember. Since I was a young child, I have lived, breathed, and dreamed any and everything mobile and on wheels. Instead of comic books like most kids, I had to get the newest issues of an old black and white classifieds catalog called Auto Trader. I analyzed them all day,” Kozerski said.

He said it took a lot of passion, several all nighters, support from friends and family, courage, commitment, dedication, and self-confidence to start his business.

Kozerski also said it takes an abundance of determination, confidence, and most of all, blessings from above to have the strength and ability to operate a business.

“I dove in headfirst by quitting my original day job and going full time into the business we had put together during the Covid pandemic when other businesses were folding all around us,” Kozerski explained. “Instead of thinking I can’t, I had to ask myself how I could.  I have always believed that if someone else could do something, then so could I.”

Kozerski said he would give the following advice to someone looking to start a business: If they do not build their own dreams, then somebody will hire them to build theirs. People must have a warrior mindset and know that when the going gets tough, then the tough gets going. He said the most crucial thing to remember and be patient with is timing because when the time is right, and people see the opportunity, they should take it. it will happen if it’s meant to be.

He received a lot of the above advice from his grandfather, Ernest Scott, who is also his hero.

"Time is of the essence, and make every move you make count towards production. You will only get out of life what you put into it, and don’t expect anything more. Your head is up there for a reason, so use it. All of these quotes and advice stated are from my grandfather,” Kozerski said.

Kozerski said he and his business do the best they possibly can to deliver the highest-quality customer service, care, and convenience they can offer while being honest, efficient, professional, affordable, knowledgeable, and hospitable. So far, they have maintained a 5-star Google rating since they began.

Kozerski believes the thing that sets Elite Auto apart or gives them a leading edge is that their hours of operation has been 24 hours a day and 7 days a week for almost five years now.

“I have learned from firsthand experience that a mechanic is only as good as the quality of parts used in the repair, and we use the best-quality parts with the best service around,” he said. “We know that money does not grow on trees and fully understand the value of a dollar, and we keep that in the forefront of our minds.”

His business tries its best to deliver the best bang for the buck.

Kozerski said he has had customers who have been broken down on the side of the road call him and his business their guardian angel after he gave help and provided services.

“We have gotten out of bed after midnight on the night before Christmas to go and help stranded motorists that were broken down and alone and trying to make it to their loved ones,” Kozerski said. “However, it is completely backwards, and the customers have always been our guardian angels coming for our services when the time could not be any better.”

When asked how he came up with his business name, Kozerski said they chose the name Elite Auto because they felt it would fit best with who they are and how they perform when they conduct business or operate. The word “elite” means the best of the best or unmatched in a sense of quality.

“We do not claim to be the best that’s ever existed; however, we do promise to be and do OUR best in every way, shape, or form we can,” Kozerski said.

Next time you are in need of car repairs or modifications, remember to give Kozerski a call at 334-791-6628 for great customer service. He will make sure to service your needs no matter the day or time.

As always, remember to support your local small businesses!
