Southeast Health Pays ZERO Property Taxes But TAKES Part of the Property Taxes

DOTHAN:    Individuals and business entities who owns land has to pay property taxes.

Since the encounter with Southeast Health Security I have been getting more and more information on Southeast Health, Rick Sutton, and other information.

This was information that I had never thought of.

Southeast Health, known as Houston County Health Authority, owns multiple pieces of property.  Even property across from Flowers Hospital and in Healthwest off West Main Street near Flowers Hospital.

PROPERTY OWNED BY SOUTHEAST HEALTH UNDER CORPORATE NAMES

Houston County Healthcare Authority   $ 17,932,600.00

Houston County Hospital Board            $   3,220,500.00

Southeast Alabama Medical Center       $      120,000.00

And they pay zero property taxes. None. Not one penny in property taxes.

Houston County Healthcare Authority was formed in 1947.

The original incorporators listed with the Alabama Secretary of State were:   Richmond M. Flowers, Dan W. Baker, W.F. Bailey, A.D. Wilkerson, A.J. Register, G.H. Jordan, J.M. Jones, John R. Adkins, J.L. Acree, W. Carl Newton, A.D. Ussery, E.S. Jones, Wilson Sturgies, W.T. Burkett.

Of the property named above, some of the prpoerty is on Highway 84 West across from Flowers Hospital, is valued at $ 5,994,600.00.

Then on John D. Odom Road near Highway 231 North, Houston County Healthcare Authority, not named in the figures above, owns additional property with a combined value of $ 2,009,200.00.

All combined, property owned by Southeast Health under entity names such as Houston County Healthcare Authority, Houston County Hospital Board, Southeast Alabama Medical Center, is worth an estimated value of $ 27,267,700.00.

And they pay ZERO - NOTTA - NONE - NOT A PENNY to Houston County in property taxes.

NOW GET THIS... 

Houston County collects property taxes from property owners. And remember, Southeast Health and their associated entities pay ZERO in property taxes.

Yet of the property taxes collected by Houston County, 2.5 mills of that tax collected goes to Southeast Health. And they could, at anytime, instruct Houston County to up that property tax collection to 5 mills.

SOUTHEAST HEALTH PATIENT TRANSPORTS   

Across Houston County the 5 EMS providers in the county, Ashford, Columbia, Cottonwood, Rehobeth and Wicksburg, along with Headland Rescue which overs Kinsey, get ZERO transports from Southeast Health to other facilities. And there are transports almost daily to other hospitals such as UAB. 

None of the Houston County EMS, other than Pilcher Ambulance gets a chance on any of these transports. And Pilcher's Amulance farms those transports to a out of county EMS Service. Never does Pilcher Ambulance offer any of the EMS transports to Houston County EMS.

But Flowers Hospital has gotten the same way. They forget the Houston County EMS covering the 911 calls in Houston County need to survive also. Both hospitals and Pilcher Ambulance just does not give a crap about them.

And Southeast Health, since Richard Sutton has taken over, stopped furnishing Dothan Fire with the medications. Dothan Fire assists all over Houston County and assists EMS coming into Dothan when they need help. Sutton, while they pay zero in property taxes, yet take 2.5 mills of the property taxes paid in, now costs the City of Dothan $ 70,000.00 a year extra for these medications.

But Sutton is a hatchett man who only cares about his six or seven figure salary. They keep it secret.

FLOWERS HOSPITAL 

Flowers Hospital parent company owns property only around Flowers Hosptial. 

According to records Flowers Hospital parent company pays Houston County an estimated    $ 300,000.00 in property taxes. 

Flowers Hospital is a private hospital and receives no tax money as does Southeast Health and their associated names.

Flowers Hospital is crrently not supporting the Houston County EMS providers with transports out of the hospital to other hospitals. They give to Piclher Ambulance and when they can not make the transport they never give the Houston County providers a opportunity what so ever. 

Pilcher's gives the transports to EMS outside of Houston County.

HOUSTON COUNTY SHERIFF PAID A OUT OF COUNTY EMS TRANSPORT  

Houston County Sheriff Department had a inmate which had to be transported to UAB Hospital one night. No idea what was wrong with the inmate.

In Sheriff Valenza's defense, he thought Pilcher Ambulance was doing the transport from a Dothan hosptial to UAB. But Pilcher Ambulance farmed the transport to a out of county EMS and no Houston County EMS provider was even considered or given an opportunity.

Houston County paid several thousand of dollars to a out of Houston County EMS provider to transport the inmate to UAB. So much for supporting the county EMS that has their backs.

Again, in Sheriff Valenza's defense, this was done beind his back and without his knowledge.
