According to AL.com, the Alabama Education Lab did research to determine which high schools do the best job with sending students out into the real world.

The following schools in the Wiregrass were ranked in the TOP TWENTY school districts in the state that had the largest percentage of seniors graduate with one or more college or career ready indicators according to information from the Alabama State Department of Education:

-Geneva County: 98.3%

-Opp City: 97.6%

-Coffee County: 96.4%

-Geneva City: 95.1%

-Dale County: 94.5 %

-Covington County: 93.9%

Alabama considers a student to be college or career ready if students graduate with one or more of the following:

-Benchmark score on the ACT

-Qualifying score of 3 or higher on an Advanced Placement Exam

-Qualifying score of 4 or higher on an International Baccalaureate Exam

-Earning college credit while still in high school

-Earning silver or gold status on the ACT WorkKeys exam

-Completing an in-school youth apprenticeship

-Earning a career technical industry credential listed on the compendium of valuable credentials of the Alabama Committee on Credentialing and Career Pathways

-Attaining career and technical education completer status

-Being accepted into a branch of the military before graduation

Only nine Alabama high schools graduated with 100% of their students college and career ready, and two were located in the Wiregrass! Kinston School and Geneva County High School were the two on this list.

Congratulations to these schools, students, and teachers who helped to make it happen!
