Starke Florida Charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance

On May 26, 2020 at approximately 11:30 p.m., Mr. Vernon Richard Goodwin of Starke, Florida was stopped for a traffic violation.
Upon contact with Mr. Goodwin, the deputy asked for his license. Mr. Goodwin informed the deputy that he did not possess a valid driver’s license. When asked if there was anything in the vehicle the deputy should be aware of, Mr. Goodwin admitted to having narcotics in his possession. Two separate substances were field tested, one testing positive for methamphetamine, the other for opiates. Mr. Goodwin was also in possession of drug paraphernalia
Mr. Goodwin is being charged with two counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Mr. Goodwin will also be held for Calhoun County on an outstanding warrant for vehicle theft.
