STOP OF BURGLARY SUSPECT ENDS IN DRUG ARREST

POPLAR SPRINGS - deputies stopped a white Nissan Xterra on Hwy 2 believed to have been involved in a burglary in Jackson County.
During the course of the stop, K9 Highway was utilized to conduct a free air sniff of the vehicle and alerted to the presence of narcotics. A search of the vehicle was conducted.
Phiilip Willcutt of Graceville, Florida who was the rear passenger of the vehicle first gave deputies a false name. Lying in the floorboard at the feet of Willcut was a box that contained paraphernalia and methamphetamine.
A computer check revealed Willcutt to have warrants out of Jackson and Santa Rosa County and also that the vehicle was displaying a tag which was not assigned. Lynne Oetman, also from Graceville, identified as another occupant of the vehicle, admitted to putting the wrong tag on the vehicle.
Oetman was charged with attaching tag not assigned. Willcutt was charged with possession of methamphetamine, giving false information, and out of county warrants.
A Jackson County investigator responded to the traffic stop and obtained the suspect’s information regarding their burglary case.
