ALABAMA:      As we begin to look towards the 2022 elections there is a lot that we need to reflect on.

You will be voting on the Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Attorney General, Secretary of State, State Treasurer, Auditor, four members of Alabama State Board of Education, Agriculture Commissioner, and two seats on the Alabama Public Service Commission.

Some United States Senator seats are up for election. One of the seat held for decades by U.S. Senator Richard Shelby.

Locally you will be voting for members of the Alabama House of Representatives, Alabama State Senators, Sheriff, Coroner, and members of the Houston County Commission, District Attorney, and some of the Circuit Judges.

Two incumbents are not seeking re-election. Houston County Commission Chairman Mark Culver who has served as a Commissioner since 1986 and Chairman since 1997 is not seeking re-election: 20th Judicial Circuit Court Judge Larry Anderson who has served for 25 years as Circuit Judge is not seeking re-election.

We have been holding three announcements for office that we will run the first of next week. The reason we held them is the City of Dothan Mayor, Associate Commissioners, Dothan School Board Chairman and Dothan School Board Members elections were held recently and they were sworn into office last week. We wanted those elections to get over because they cause confusion.

There are a lot of factors to be considered. As we look at incumbents, what have they done? How is our county and state better by those who have elected offices. Do they have a servants heart or ego? Have they worked for the people or just wanted to be someone?

In my opinion not one single one of those elected are officials. They are all public servants elected to serve the people. They are elected to make positive changes to make our county, state and nation better.

Below is a article that ranks Alabama as the people being happy. The elected public servants set the tones.

And I cringe in meetings when citizens are told you have three minutes to speak and they do not answer questions. I understand in many instances there has to be time limits. But not answering legitimate questions, to those elected, who do you think you are? You are accountable.

Pray over the elections of 2022 and who is the best person with a servants heart to hold an elected office.

FROM AL.COM

Is sweet home Alabama actually pretty bummed out? That’s the theory of one recent ranking that looked at the happiest- and unhappiest – states in the country.

NiceRX used data, including life expectancy, homicide rate, mean household income and safety ratings to get an overview of different stresses and strains of each state. That data was used to determine a “happiness score” for each state.

The ranking showed the happiest stat was Hawaii, followed by Connecticut, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Minnesota, California, Maryland, New Hampshire, New York and Washington.
