DOTHAN - HOUSTON COUNTY:    On Sunday RSN submitted a article the Dothan Mayor, Dothan Associate Commissioners, Houston County Commission Chairman, Houston County Commissioners and the Alabama Legislative Local Delegation needed to speak up.

Along with those named above Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall and Alabama Lieutenant Governor Ainsworth needed to step up to the plate.

Surround these officials, Dothan Police Chief Will Benny, Houston County Sheriff Donald Valenza, ALEA Secretary Hal Taylor or the local ALEA Command Staff, and all Houston County Municipal Police Chiefs, making a statement to the community these law enforcement commanders and their officers have their unwaivering support and financial support in the fight of the gun violence.

RSN placed the responsibility of coordinating this display to the public and the law enforcement officers thier support on Dothan Mayor Mark Saliba and Houston County Commission Chairman Mark Culver.

Placed the responsibility for the business community on Matt Parker with Dothan Area Chamber of Commerce.

The first to say they were willing to stand with the law enforcement in unwaivering support were members of the Alabama Legislature local delegation being Paul Lee, Dexter Hammond, Jeff Sorrells, Steve Clouse and Donnie Chesteen.

The second call was a man arrested in 2018 for Captial Murder, but as of this date never been indicted, and has pending charges was Kenny Glasgow.

The Mayor and Dothan Commissioners on Tuesday, during the Dothan City Commission Meeting, pledged their support to Dothan Police Chief Will Benny. And Chief Benny announced that he and Houston County Sheriff Donald Valenza are going to partner on some law enforcement activities. The Chief did not elaborate on it.

Dothan Police Chief Will Benny has said the shootings are unacceptable and he is not going to let Dothan go to hell under his watch.

No word from the Houston County Commission Chairman or Commissioners.

STANDING IN SOLIDARITY BEHIND CHIEFS, SHERIFF AND ALEA 

So far the suggestion of Dothan Mayor and Associate Commissioners, Houston County Commission Chairman and Houston County Commissioners, the local legislative delegation, Lieutenant Governor and Attorney General surround the Dothan Police Chief, Houston County Sheriff, ALEA and Municipal Police Chief's has not happened yet.

It might be because it was my suggestion.

But my thought process is the men and women risking their lives need to know without a doubt they are supported by those in positions of power. I hesitate to use the words "leaders" because not many have demonstrated leadership.

My thought process is the public needs to see those persons in power support the aggressive law enforcement in order to stop this violence. When I say aggressive law enforcement it means zero tolerance and concentrated enforcement on areas of problems.

That means traffic stops, interaction and positive community policing of the public knowing and trusting law enforcement. The public needs to know these people elected and in power support that.

And that officers are not going to be placed out on a limb and abandoned. We have some elected and people in power that have the backbone of a jelly fish. That when people complain the people in power support the getting the community under control and will not fall for those few who complain.

RICKEY STOKES refuses to sit by and allow Dothan-Houston County to be like Montgomery and Birmingham. I am not in the seat of power, but I will not hesitate to place cameras in the face of those who are in the seat of power and call them out. Without hesitation I support the men and women in law enforcement with the duty to get this community under control and keep it under control.

And I will not let some spineless politician be a wimp and not support such.

We have allowed the Alabama Attorney General to allow Montgomery Alabama and Birmingham Alabama get out of control. And that is not going to happen here.

I have complete confidence and support in each of you. I will place my life on the line beside you to back you up and make sure you go home. I will not waiver on my support of each of you on what you do to protect this community.

I am on the downhill track of life in that more of my life is behind me rather than in front of me. And never worry if Rickey Stokes will not stand shoulder to shoulder with you.

I have lost friends because of my stand for law enforcement, EMS, Fire and EMA. But when it comes to the lives and safety, I DO NOT APOLOGIZE for anything I have said or done. Sorry those in power have made me say things not nice, but it built a fire for things to change for what is best for the people and to save lives. So I do not apologize.

Just sorry those in power forced me to do it.

So to those named on your public support, do not think for one second I will not place a camera in front of you and ask you the tough questions and chase you down displaying to the public you are a spinless coward because you do not answer and support those trying to get this stopped.

In closing, I am not threatening. I am just saying, no free passes ... either you want this community safe or you do not care that violence is happening.
