GORDON: Today was the day for EMS units to assist other EMS.
At about 2:36 PM Gordon Police Chief Jim Mock and Gordon Fire Chief Justin McCallister requested Ashford Rescue to respond to Highway 84 and Highway 95 to assist Decatur County EMS.
Decatur County EMS, from Bainbridge Georgia, was transporting a patient and the patient "flat lined", stopped breathing. The EMS driver called for assistance because he immediately pulled over and went to the back of the ambulance to assist in CPR.
Gordon Police Chief Jim Mock and Gordon Fire Chief Justin McCallister rolled and jumped in the back of the ambulance helping Decatur County EMS with CPR. Ashford EMS was responding to the scene.
As soon as Ashford arrived the two chief's exited and Ashford EMS boarded. Advanced Life Support assistance from Dothan Fire was disaptched and rolling east on Highway 84. Chief Mock escorted the ambulances to Highway 84 and Fire Tower Road where Dothan Fire boarded the ambulance and the patient was transported.
Houston County Sheriff 911 advised the EMS units that Southeast Health was on Diversion. The EMS said basically "we do not care if you are on Diversion - we have a patient not breathing, CPR in progress, and get your buttocks ready to fight to save this life".
To Southeast Health they go.
