MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - Tropical Storm Barry is inching closer to the Louisiana coast, influencing our weather as we head into the upcoming weekend. Scattered showers and thunderstorms have already impacted our area today, and a few - associated with the outer rain bands of the storm - are leftover this afternoon. More wet weather is expected as we head into the weekend, but the newest information suggests the next few days are not washouts.






At our warmest (& driest) point of the day, temperatures climbed into the lower 90s for highs today. An elevated coverage of rain helped keep us a tad cooler, but it still feels like a muggy July afternoon.






As we head into the upcoming weekend, we will be fine tuning the forecast and watching how Barry trends. Here is the latest information...






Barry likely has 24 hours or less before it makes landfall, so time is not on this storm’s side. While it is becoming increasingly unlikely Barry will ever become a hurricane, it doesn’t mean this Tropical Storm won’t cause major issues for parts of the Gulf Coast.
