“ The Strongest People Make Time To Help Others, Even If They Are Struggling With Their Own Personal Problems “

Six weeks ago I started a fundraiser for 1 year old Ja’khari who was diagnosed this past June with TCell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia.

Tonight I’m very excited to announce that because of wonderful caring people in our community…$8300 was raised to help Ja’khari’s parents with medical bills not covered by insurance and travel expenses to Children’s Hospital every week.

This is my 17th fundraiser for local children with Cancer or other deadly diseases and each time I hear from some who say
THEY WILL BE OK THEY HAVE INSURANCE!

Imagine for a moment if you will…

You have a child fighting for their life every day for months..even for years!

Many days and nights your child is throwing up…burning up with fever..in severe pain

So you have to stay home every day to look after your child which means NO PAYCHECK FROM WORK!!

Insurance does help but many required treatments ARE NOT COVERED BY INSURANCE!!

Imagine having to pay out of your pocket for very expensive prescriptions that your insurance won’t pay for!!!

Driving back and forth to Birmingham or other large cities that are fortunate enough to have a Children’s Hospital eats up a lot of gas…and gas costs money.

My point is…Even if a family has insurance for their child …IT CAN STILL BE FINANCIALLY DEVASTATING!!!

I want to thank everyone who donated to Ja’khari’s fundraiser…

But I have a very special message to…the dad that donated who lost his 5 year old daughter to Leukemia and works 2 jobs….

To the lady that donated who is battling pancreatic cancer that has spread…

To the lady who is battling cancer and hasn’t been able to eat or drink anything for the last 30 days but still sent a donation…

To the parents who grieve every day from the loss of a child…

To those who are struggling financially but still made a donation…

To all the Buffalo Soldiers Fort Rucker Chapter Otis Smith Jr And James Tanker Lee Fort Leavenworth Chapter
