Three Birmingham firefighters were injured while battling a blaze Tuesday night in Norwood.
Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service responded at 8:18 p.m. to the fire in the 3800 block of Norwood Boulevard. When firefighters arrived on the scene, said Battalion Chief Sebastian Carrillo, heavy fire was showing at the house.
A second alarm was struck because of the manpower needed to fight the fire. About an hour into the blaze, firefighters went to the exterior rear of the home to try to get inside. It was then the roof collapsed, falling off the side of the house and onto fire firefighters.
