DALE COUNTY:  Time left for the Dale County Mayors to save lives in the south end of Dale County. NOTE:   Added a timer but not showing up for some reason.

On Tuesday August 13, 2019 the Dale County Commission gave the Mayors of Grimes, Napier Field, Midland City, Pinckard and Newton 30 days to get their EMS unit operational. The Mayors have formed a partnership and had the municipal attorney to form a 501 ( C ) ( 3 ) non profit corporation named South Dale County EMS.

After ending of the period ( which is on a Friday ) the Dale County Commission is ready to move.

At the August 13, 2019 meeting of the Dale County Commission the five Mayors were given 30 days to get the tires rolling on their proposal for EMS. The verbal proposal did not include start up costs or how much each municipality would have to contribute to make the EMS operate. The Mayor of Pinckard was the spokesperson for the Mayors.

What is apparent is the Municipal Town Councils were not aware of all of the plans the Mayors have been discussing. UNCONFIRMED the Grimes Mayor has resigned. The UNCONFIRMED information is the Town Council of Grimes was not in full support of the Mayors plans.

ECHO EMS has offered to place a ambulance in the area of the 5 towns and offer 24/7 coverage. The failure of the 5 Mayors to take the ECHO EMS offer will place in jeopardy ECHO EMS coverage in the county area where South Dale EMS is not planning to cover.

Regardless of the 5 Mayors and Town Council actions ECHO EMS will look after their community. Just might/might not have crews at the station.

For the past 10 years or so ECHO EMS has had the backs of the towns. It was not until Dale County Commission Chairman Mark Blakenship, members of the Dale County Commission and State Representative Steve Clouse rolled their sleeves up and went to work for funding did the Mayors ( except Midland City ) make an effort for coverage.

Midland City bought an ambulance but no arrangements for 24/7 coverage. And the numbers given on August 13 of the EMS calls by Midland City, I strongly dispute. As media we were told and expected to believe in 13 days of August 23 people called Midland City Police for EMS. And they made the calls. Sorry, I ain't buying that!

So when the timer clicks at about 10:30 AM the time is up. The Dale County Commission ought to call a special meeting with the Mayors invited. If the ambulances are not ready to roll the Dale County Commission needs to implement the ECHO EMS proposal and do a contract for 60 months.

Here is the reason why:  no wreck, heart attack, stroke, or major medical emergency has ever made an appointment. EMS emergencies do not stop for bureaucratic stonewalling. LIVES DEPEND ON THEIR ACTION.
