(WASHINGTON COUNTY, FL; November 8, 2019) – An early morning traffic in Chipley ended in the arrest of three people Thursday.

Just after 6:30 a.m. a Washington County Sheriff’s deputy was patrolling the area of State Road 77 and Clayton Road when he stopped a car for speeding.

As he attempted to speak to the driver, 29-year-old Clifton Bryant, he noticed Bryant began to visibly shake as the passengers interrupted him and answered the questions being asked by the deputy.

Noticing the odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle, the deputy requested Bryant step out of the vehicle to talk to him uninterrupted.  During the conversation, Bryant consented to the vehicle being searched.

As the car was searched, the deputy located a glass pipe containing methamphetamine wrapped in a handkerchief on the driver side of the vehicle and a plastic bag of methamphetamine in the purse of the front seat passenger, 17-year-old Whisper Guyer.  In the back seat, the deputy located a black case containing a glass pipe, and a hypodermic needle.

Due to the back seat passenger, 54-year-old Patricia Meeks, hesitating to exit the vehicle when initially asked, the deputy further questioned Meeks about having narcotics in her possession.  Meeks then gave the deputy two plastic bags containing methamphetamine.

All three were taken into custody and booked into the Washington County Jail on felony possession charges.
