Traffic Stop Lands One in Jail on Drug Charges

On 06/23/2019 at approximately 12:57 P.M. an officer with the Marianna Police Department observed a red 2005 Honda sedan traveling westbound on Lafayette Street without any visible lights. The officer conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle for the equipment violation of failing to display headlights and taillights between sunset and sunrise while on the roads of this state. The driver of the vehicle, later identified as Travis Jade Williams of Graceville, was asked to step out of the vehicle due to the detection of the odor of marijuana emitting from the interior of the vehicle.
A probable cause search was conducted and did result in the recovery of marijuana in the amount of less than 20 grams, along with associated paraphernalia used in the processing of the narcotic for smoking. An electronic smoking device was also recovered, which was found to contain THC extract. Williams was then taken into custody on the aforementioned charges. Travis Jade Williams is awaiting first appearance Jackson County Correctional Facility.
