Washington County, FL; Two are behind bars today on paraphernalia and methamphetamine charges after deputies conduct a traffic stop.

On September 12, at approximately 4:30 p.m., deputies witness a vehicle traveling south on State Rd. 77 at approximately 18 miles over the posted speed limit. A traffic stop was initiated. After running the Georgia license plate, it was revealed to be expired.

Contact was made with the occupants of the vehicle. The male in the back-passenger seat of the vehicle tried to conceal his identity, when asked his name he gave a fake alias and birthdate. No record came back on the alias given; however, the name Christopher Quattlebaum came back with an active warrant and picture ID matching the subject occupying the vehicle. Quattlebaum is a 21-year-old Washington County resident who was detained for further investigation. The other occupant was identified as, 28-year-old, Kyle Robin Lazarus of Crawfordville, FL.

After an exterior sniff of the vehicle, K9 Jet gave a positive alert. A search of the vehicle was conducted. During the search, several illegal items were found to be concealed in the vehicle.

Both were arrested and booked into the Washington County Jail.

Quattlebaum on charges of possession of drug paraphernalia, fraud by giving false information to LEO and fabricating or destroying physical evidence. This charge came upon transferring Quattlebaum to the patrol car. When asked if he had any other illegal items, he stated he didn’t because he had already eaten the methamphetamine to prevent deputies from locating it.

Lazarus on charges of possession of controlled substance without prescription and possession of drug paraphernalia.
