Traffic Stop leads to Meth Arrest

WASHINGTON COUNTY, FL:A Caryville man has been arrested on multiple drug-related charges after deputies observe the vehicle traveling at a higher rate of speed.

On July 13th, a Washington County Sheriff’s deputy stopped a vehicle after observing a couple traffic violations. During the stop, deputies noticed the distinct odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle.

When questioned about the odor, the occupants of the vehicle deny the use or are in possession of marijuana. The passenger of the vehicle, 33-year-old, Justin Edward Brown, was asked to exit the vehicle and stand by the patrol car.

Further investigation resulted in deputies locating a plastic Tupperware container containing a green leafy substance. As deputies return to the patrol car, Brown commented that he had “ate the joint.” Deputies also notice Brown trying to conceal something. A further search resulted in deputies locating another bag also containing marijuana. Brown was asked if he was in possession of any other contraband and he denied.

Brown was arrested and transported to the Washington County Jail. During the booking process at the Washington County Jail, Brown was found to be concealing three baggies containing a crystalline substance, which later field tested positive for methamphetamine.

Brown was booked into the Washington County Jail on charges of possession of methamphetamine with intent to sell, tampering with evidence, smuggle contraband into prison and possession of marijuana.
