Traffic Stop Yeilds to Arrest

HOLMES COUNTY:On May 1, 2024, a routine traffic stop conducted by a deputy with the HCSO at the intersection of Hwy 81 and 90 led to the discovery of illegal narcotics.


The stop, initiated by the HCSO deputy, involved a vehicle where K9 Lasso was deployed to conduct a free air sniff.



During the course of the investigation, K9 Lasso detected the presence of illegal narcotics within the vehicle. Subsequent search efforts uncovered THC edibles and marijuana concealed within the vehicle.



As a result of the discovery, Juan Tafur, the passenger of the vehicle, claimed ownership of the narcotics and was promptly arrested.



Tafur now faces charges of possession of marijuana and possession of a controlled substance.
